Abalone Shell

Using mellowed Northwest Seagrass, this small gem will be twined
around seagrass spokes and shaped over an Abalone shell. Perfect
for those who love twining.

Gourd Masks

Students will create a unique mask by combining pyrography, various
basketry and embellishing techniques with dyes and paint. They
will learn to add facial features by attaching gourd parts.

Tiny Miniature Gourds, Oh My!

Leather Backed Gourd Pouch
Instructor: Kathy Riker – Yucaipa,

Students will use ink dyes and apply glazes over inks, use finishes,
and learn how to heat set. They will construct the pouch and attach
leather to the back to secure it to the gourd. A three-way braid
will be attached to the pouch and be embellished with beads.

Bamboo Interplay

Native Wolf Vessel

Town, CA
You will learn how to place your designs evenly and effectively
using a measurement pattern. You will also learn how to use a rotozip
bit to create the fluid cut on the top of this gourd. Inlaying
turquoise cabochons and creating an acrylic paint “patina” are
just a few of the other techniques you will learn in this class.

Gathering Pouch
Instructor: Jo Campbell-Amsler – Monticelo,
IA
A variety of naturally colored willows and Day Lily/Siberian Iris
leaves will be used to create this rib-style round basket pouch.
The class will learn how to make cordage of the Day Lily/Siberian
Iris leaves then weave them into the basket. Finishing touches
of a leather strap and willow beads will be added once pouch is
completed. Much emphasis will be placed on the shaping and placement
of the ribs.

Iris Mini Basket

Twine this sweet, little basket using iris leaves over cedar bark
spokes. We will plait in a row of maidenhair fern stem and finish
with a woven border. A good intro to wild and natural materials.
We will discuss gathering and prepping materials.

Wire Pouches

Learn to knit and crochet with wire. Wire cloth is cut and heat-treated
for unusual color effects. Glass beads add a touch of sparkle and
make your wire pouch a fun, new accessory. This class focuses on
techniques, and students are given a variety of materials to experiment
with.
